JULY 2020

Africa’s leading private education provider, ADvTECH, has launched its highly successful distance learning offering in Kenya. The JSE-listed company already has a broad footprint throughout Africa, which locally includes Crawford International School in Nairobi as well as the Makini Group of schools.

Oxbridge Academy is the well-established and respected distance learning brand of ADvTECH, and serves more than 27 000 students annually.

“As the trend of pursuing further education off-campus and from home grows, we recently launched in three additional countries – Kenya, Zambia and Ghana,” says Elbie Liebenberg, Managing Director of Oxbridge Academy. She says prospective students are increasingly realising the value of gaining vocational training instead of, or in addition to, a generic university degree.

“We cater to those students who need to earn while they learn, who need to either get a foot in the door in a particular industry, or who want to upskill or change careers.”

All learning materials from Oxbridge Academy are provided online, and international students enjoy the same learning experience as their peers in South Africa.

Oxbridge Academy offers a wide range of vocational courses. Since its launch in Kenya last month, there has been particular interest in three courses: Entrepreneurship, Occupational Health & Safety, and Logistics and Supply Chain Management. Other courses on offer include – but are not limited to:

  • Business Management
  • Human Resources Management
  • Advertising and Marketing
  • Contact Centre Management
  • Occupational Health and Safety
  • Supply Chain and Logistics Management

“The demand for qualified and skilled individuals who can prove that they have mastered the basics of a vocation will always be there, as employers look for people who can do specific jobs in specific sectors,” Liebenberg says.

“ADvTECH already has a well-established presence and reputation throughout Africa, and we are excited to add our Oxbridge Academy offering in Kenya, to enrich the lives of students from all walks of life, by providing a quality further education opportunity through distance learning.”

Students studying through Oxbridge Academy complete their course online, at their own pace. All books and assignments are available online, with all feedback and marked assignments also provided online. This gives students the freedom to study from anywhere in the world.

Oxbridge Academy is a leader in distance education, and has been offering affordable, accessible education and training opportunities locally and internationally for over 20 years.
